Remember the show "Zoom!" on PBS? This was one of the recipes they shared and was a huge hit with our family.
- 1 package “Famous” chocolate wafer cookies (Nabisco brand)
- 1 8 oz. tub of Cool Whip or other whipped topping
- Plastic wrap
- Lay out 2 long pieces of plastic wrap – ~2 ft. – over a large cookie sheet on a solid surface.
- Starting with a chocolate wafer, “butter” one side of the cookie with 1 Tbl. whipped topping.
- Top with a cookie. Butter that cookie, and stack a new cookie on top of the previous one. Repeat as many times as long as you want, about 14”.
- Stand the “log roll” on its side. You are creating a pattern of black, white, black, white, and so forth until you use all that you want.
- “Frost” the outside of the log with remaining whipped topping.
- Carefully fold over the plastic wrap to cover the “cake”.
- Take the “cake” and put it in the freezer, to freeze for at least 2 hours.
- Remove and put in fridge for 1 hour prior to serving.
- When serving, take out the cake and unwrap it. Using a sharp knife, cut diagonally across the cake, making a striped section. Serve immediately.
